Your donations
By Hilary White
I just went to the local hardware store in Santa Marinella and bought 23 plug-in heaters for delivery to Norcia to help get people through the winter who have to stay in tents and small portable houses. I also bought a bag of batteries, don’t know how many but it was pretty much all they had in the shop.
This cost about 500 Euros, and it was paid for by you, our readers and friends who so generously donated over the last week or so. Before the end of the weekend, we are going to go to the supermarket and buy flats of tuna, olive oil and other groceries. A van is booked for Monday, and will be traveling up to Norcia with all this stuff in the afternoon.
In a week or two I will be going up to sort out the house. At that time, we will take another load of stuff.
A most sincere thank you to all.
Meanwhile, those who want to donate directly for reconstruction can go to the monks’ website or click on the “I Love Norcia” page on Facebook, where there is up-to-the-minute news and information on where to donate.
