Score cards! Git yer score cards here!
These are going out to Mark Shea, Dave Armstrong and Jimmy Akin…
Thanks for all the help, boys. You’re really making this pontificate hilarious and fun, and we appreciate all your hard work.

You have to come out. You have to.
No one ever said leaving was easy. I don’t usually cross-post, but Steve quoted me talking about why Mother Angelica went wrong, and he gave a little of his own experience at WYD Denver.
The poor kid was 15…
I was confronted with the depth of the corruption of faith in laity and clergy alike. It was a constant barrage of jarring circumstances. The first night I was there, a producer from the Howard Stern Show who couldn’t find a place to stay stowed away in my room after becoming chummy with my assigned roommates, who were apparently big fans.

The Natural Law vs. Man’s Bright Ideas
See, we like to do stuff. We like to build things, invent things, make stuff happen. It’s probably the urge at the root of the whole NuChurch project. This is the new world! Whee! All that old stuff was no good for this shiny new thing. We need new stuff! We need to be entertained! We need to be kept busy! Shake that tamborine! Wave those banners! Get those ladies up around the altar!

Hey Fisheaters! Do the homework
The premise here is that the old religion is not the same as the new, and that as time has passed since the year of grace 1965, the rift between the two religions competing for space within the same Church has grown wider.
What we used to call “Catholicism” must now be distinguished from the interloper by calling it “traditional” Catholicism, or “Traditionalism.” It is not going to be the task of this publication to explain this over and over for every new reader who happens along.

Be an environmentalist: it’s easy and fun
I think people become enamoured of environmentalism because it is an easy issue to embrace. It really requires no moral courage and will get you all sorts of plaudits with very little effort. I am also a great believer in the responsibility to combat pollution and to preserve the natural world (it’s in Genesis…) but I don’t think it needs to be a moral priority.
I fear the main reason the pope is promoting it because it is easy, will make him popular and presents no real difficulties.

Padre Pio arrives in Rome
I know that lots of Italian Catholic websites are talking about Pope’s comments upon the arrival of Padre Pio’s relics in Rome, but I don’t want to read them.
I just don’t.

How to go to war and lose
Since we are all going back to the Good Old 70s, I thought we would go back to the beginning of the War.
This is Mother Angelica’s big moment, her declaration of war against the evil men we had been stuck with for bishops. And they took her up on the offer of hostilities. And she lost, but only after putting up years of the most ferocious fight, and only after they had to pile on with the full force of their powers against her.
