Someone asked me once:
“What do you want most out of life?”
For some reason I just said, “To go home.”

The conservatives will save us!
From Rorate today, another bishop, in Grenada, Spain has adopted the Buenos Aires directive:
“…on the implementation of chapter VIII of Amoris Laetitia, issued by the bishops of the pastoral region of Buenos Aires. This is especially discouraging as Archbishop Martínez has in the past been known for his courage and orthodoxy.”
I’m afraid I find Rorate’s howling over how “orthodox” he was a little frustrating.
Listen. Get it through your thick little Hobbit-skulls:

The glories of secularism
Today the decree of canonization was issued for Saint Jose Sanchez Del Rio, the boy who would not deny Christ the King.
Points to remember: the Catholic hierarchy of Mexico, the bishops, refused to support the Cristeros.
The encyclical Quas primas, instituting the Feast of Christ the King, was issued on December 11, 1925, by Pope Pius XI in response to the suppression of Catholicism in Mexico.

Beguine chant
This video claims that this is Beguine chant from a 16th century Amsterdam psalter.
I don’t know if it’s true, but it’s lovely nonetheless.

Clearing out the riff-raff
At the last minute, Francis has decided to replace Cardinal Sarah to open the academic year at the Pontifical John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and the Family in Rome. He’s going to do it himself.
Some see the replacement of Cardinal Sarah, who heads the Vatican’s department for liturgy, as a blow to the African cardinal whose preference for clarity when it comes to the Church’s moral teaching is well known.

Winnowing time
So, in case there was still anyone in the Catholic world who thought that the pope didn’t want to institute a regime of universal sacrilege, we have this announcement from the Vicariate of Rome. The pope is the bishop of Rome, but he mostly acts through his “vicar,” who at this time is Cardinal Agostino Vallini. This gentleman has just issued “guidelines” to order that priests be willing to desecrate the Holy Eucharist.
