It’s a revolution, stupid!
I must say I do appreciate it when they helpfully confirm a thesis.

From status quo to insurgency: Conciliar vs traditionalist Catholicism Today’s Catholic neo-traditionalism has very little in common with 20th century theological, institutional and ecclesiastical Catholic conservatism The fault lines between different religious worldviews within Western Catholicism are currently being redefined around the so-called “life issues”. We see among liberals the resurgence of Cardinal Bernardin’s “seamless garment” argument, while conservatives insist that abortion is the only defining moral issue.

“Conservative Relativistic Weathervane” is the name of my new oldies country music punk coverband
We have to remember to thank God and the “conservatives” for helpfully helping to demonstrate – and nearly every day – the point I’ve been trying to make clear all this time; that what we think of as “conservative” Catholicism, that odd hybrid of selective doctrinal orthodoxy on sex and Americanist relativism in politics – is not going to work. That in fact, this pontificate is the product of that delusional attempt at a “third-way” compromise between the traditional Catholic Faith and Modernism.

How that Cassandra Syndrome, “I told you so” thrill…
…ain’t all it’s cracked up to be.
Hey! Remember that time a while back when we said the whole Sovereign Military Order of Malta kerfuffle was aimed at the effective suppression of the religious aspect of the Knights and the reduction of the order to the status of a secular medical NGO, run by the secularist German noble faction (and their banker friends) so as to make that sweet, sweet EU cash more… shall we say… available…?

You keep on using that word; I do not think it means what you think it means
The internet world being unable to stop laughing at Walford (poor little mite) the regime is trotting out bigger targets…
Confusion in the Church exists. But “it is certainly not the Pope who provokes it, but those who, to oppose it, do not hesitate to multiply the voices of dissent”. This is stated by the philosopher Massimo Borghesi, author of the first scientific study on the thought of Francesco, Jorge Mario Bergoglio.

And right on cue the toadies start braying… “Dissident conservatives attacking pope!…”
Today we have a report from Tosatti, based on the anonymous blogger who claims inside sources (yes, this is actually how the “news” about the Vatican works) that Our Dear Leader has called a meeting of his media advisors to launch a campaign to discredit and smear the reputation of the three Kazakh bishops + 2 who dared to reiterate Catholic teaching in public and call for the pope to start doing his job.

Blessed feast of the Mother of God, and a merry Christmas
When I was a kid I was always rather disappointed that New Years came so quickly after Christmas, because it meant that everyone would stop saying Merry Christmas and start saying Happy New Year. Christmas was a real thing for me. It was about the baby Jesus and Mary and Joseph and the wonderful story of the angels and the shepherds, and all the excitement of the three kings and Herod and all that.

O Rex Gentium: O King of the Nations
O Rex Gentium, et desideratus earum,
lapisque angularis, qui facis utraque unum:
veni, et salva hominem,
quem de limo formasti. O King of the nations, and their desire,
the cornerstone making both one:
Come and save the human race,
which you fashioned from clay. This note came in to my email inbox today:
This is what I do this for.
To all who have donated, to all who have prayed, to everyone who has sent me little notes and given advice and encouragement, I can’t tell you how encouraging and how helpful it has all been.

It’s Advent sing-along time!
O dawn of the east, brightness of light eternal, and sun of justice: come, and enlighten those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death.
I’m trying to get the knack of following the Little Squares.

O Radix Jesse! qui stas in signum populorum,
super quem continebunt reges os suum,
quem Gentes deprecabuntur:
veni ad liberandum nos, jam noli tardare.
O Root of Jesse, standing as a sign among the peoples;
before you kings will shut their mouths,
to you the nations will make their prayer:
Come and deliver us, and delay no longer.
For bringing a dead stick back to life…
Update
Good news from Mike: things are turning around.

“The Vatican should sell its treasures and give the money to the poor”
You know that thing people always say?
Of course, no one ever stops to think about it. Anyone, rich or poor, can go to the Vatican Museums and see the stuff. With the Pieta you don’t even have to pay anything (there are free days for the Museums), you just have to stand in line for an hour or so and go through a metal detector… but that’s a rant for next time… In reality the Vatican is the steward of these objects, some of the most important artefacts of our civilisation.
