[I created this post a couple of days ago, but WordPress has changed – without warning – the way posts are created. I am suddenly left having to relearn everything about blogging and apparently haven’t figured out how to click “publish” in the new format. I’m still painting most of the days and haven’t checked back here so didn’t realise it hadn’t published.] ~ The great philosopher, Prof. Robert Spaemann has died.

  OK guys, I’ve got a hard deadline for some paintings, little miniatures, I have a commission for. First in a long, long while… Since before the earthquake, I think. So I’ve got to spend the next week doing pretty much nothing but drawing and gooping plaster and gesso over things, and painting. It’s hard to do when you’re in a panic – your hand shakes a bit and you have to remember that caffeine is no solution to that – and impossible to do when you’re thinking of things to blog about.

Archie’s last episode in his blockbuster miniseries “Actuating Schism,” packs quite the punchline. What is going to be the final step in the purge? How are they going to get rid of the last remnants of the believers from the structures of the Church? What did Mad-Dog Maradiaga really mean when he threatened that the purpose of the Bergoglian pontificate was “irreversible change”? What did Cormac Murphy O’Connor mean when he said their candidate was going to “change the Church”?

In a single photo, the Faith you’ll die for and… that other thing. What it’s really about. Seriously, is this getting to be a Thing now? “Brunchmesse” (Not the ’60s. November 2016) Apparently this is a Thing now too. Ya geddit? The layman gives Holy Communion to the priest! And it’s funny! ‘Cause it’s an inversion of the right ordering of things, and that’s hilARious! But it’s OK, because it’s adoration, right?

First I must extend my sincere thanks to the kind readers and supporters of this site for their generous donations in the belated Autumn Funder. We have chased away the wolf from the door. I have asked a friendly priest in the US to remember the intentions of all who contributed in his Mass for the 1st Sunday of Advent. And I particularly appreciate the little notes. I often doubt the usefulness of this sort of work.

“Cremate eos omnes” How can we help our errant bishops repent and return to the light of Faith? Turn them over to the secular arm. ~ Fr. Kenny kindly linked to my last post on turning toward the Lord in prayer. …social media can be – while a great way to keep in touch – also a waste of time, a hindrance to prayer. Which, coincidentally, I was thinking about just today because I was outlining a book about prayer.

I’ve shut down the WUWTS Twitter page. Staring at the wall is literally a more useful way to spend one’s time. ~ So, I’ve been hearing from a number of people who are doing the work of writing and speaking against the current evils, and most of them are saying the same things. We’ve done a good portion of what we set out to do. More repeating of the warnings seems like a waste of time too.

A priest speaks: Only Holiness subverts this mess in the Church I’m no longer worried, or scared to speak my mind as charitably as is possible, over a man – and group of men – who are given over to, and in some cases filled with, the enemy. It’s blindingly clear now. What they don’t understand yet is that what they fear most isn’t the Pharisees and right wingers and the conservatives and pro-lifers and climate change deniers.

What’s she singing? Happy thanksgiving, ‘Murrican friends! Try this. I just had some and it was great. Cranberry sauce is good for poultry because it’s acidity cuts the fattiness of the meat, cleanses the palate. This plum sauce is out of an old English cookery book and traditionally accompanied roast goose. I made it recently for the European version of thanksgiving, St. Martin’s. I just tried it on some dark turkey meat and it’s great.

I hereby decree and declare by my Bloggostolic authority that from this day forward the expression “Big Giant Nothingburger” shall henceforth be known as a “Bishops’ Baltimore Special.”   Actual quote from actual Cupich to actual USCCB meeting in Baltimore. And hilarity ensued… So, that was fun. I hope we’re all recovered from our hangovers from the Baltimore Bishop Meeting drinking game? Good. Things have been getting so interesting out there it’s difficult to keep up anywhere but Twitter.
