Fr. Ingo Dollinger, requiescat in pace
The Resurrection and the Life. I have just had a note from a friend who lives near Fr. Dollinger that I thought I would pass along. I know that there are people among our readers here who were great fans, people who knew him personally, so I hope this gives some comfort:
“Fr. Dollinger died on Sunday. I said Mass at his apartment in the morning and he was able to receive Communion – fortunately, because when I got called out to him in the afternoon he could not have received again as Viaticum.

The bishop of Gubbio’s message to the world
So, I’ve been away for a few days, visiting a Carthusianesque monastery waaaaaay far away from everything. But sort of vaguely in the vicinity of Gubbio, of St. Francis-and-the-wolf fame.
I *knew* I was going to find the world more annoying after three days in the monastery. I knew it. Why didn’t I think it would be this painful? Why am I so dumb?
So, Maurizio the super-duper-nice taxi driver comes to pick you up at the monastery to drive you back to Gubbio where you can get the bus back to Perugia.

Brother can you spare a dime? – updates and the latest on the FFIs
Received the following via email from a kind donor: “Hilary, I hope that your new home is comfortable and geologically stable.”
Just the basics, right? You just need to live in a place where the ground does not experience the urge to periodically behave like the surface of a trampoline. (There was another biggish one in Norcia this week. just a 3.6… just enough to remind us all…)
But down here in the Perugian lowlands, things on the home front have settled pretty well.

We few, we happy few, we band of bloggers…
Steve reports a comment from inside the Walls:
“The fact that Burke is still around, gaining traction and the voice of the Resistance is infuriating them.” According to the source who wishes to remain anonymous, “Francis is very thin skinned.” The “series of Resistance conferences in Rome’s steps” and the “band of bloggers” is getting “under his skin.” The Vatican expert’s advice to the Resistance and the band of bloggers: “Keep the heat on.

We’re well past “whistle-blowing”
Nowadays, they’re blowing their own whistles. As I think we’ve said, it’s not a conspiracy if they’re doing it in the open, sending out press releases and putting it on the websites. Giving Ted talks.
There seems almost no point in “figuring out” what’s “going on.” There certainly isn’t much point in asking what’s going on. We know what’s going on. We can see it in the headlines.

You don’t have to live like they tell you: human will, nettle beer and the country life
I was involved in the SCA for about 20 years, between 11 and 30, and I met people who dreamed all the time about “living it full time,” but SCA people are almost exclusively city folk – often with computer-related jobs. I know a few who took what they learned in the SCA and took the plunge. A guy who had a very illustrious career in the SCA and was an IT guy IRL quit his horrible desk job and started a hand-made wood furniture and interior carpentry business that is flourishing.

Don’t let’s be beastly to the Islams
This is not the first time the British urge to appease its enemies has come under criticism.
“Sterilization simply isn’t done.”
It might be well to think about what happened after the War. My mother grew up starving. Yes, literally starving. She was a good five inches shorter than I; I could put my chin on the top of her head. This is because she grew up in Manchester after the War during rationing.

Time for regime change?
~
The wrecking ball was needed to take down the last of the old large structures, the big old buildings that were dusty and half-falling down. Organizations like the Curial offices that were holding things up and whose resistance has now been effectively neutralized or taken over: the Pontifical Academy for Life and the JPII Institute; the IOR; Divine Worship and Sacraments; CDF; Cor Unum and Caritas under Cardinal Sarah’s attempted reforms; Congregation for Religious and the re-visioning of contemplative religious life for women; the Roman Rota and the new rules for annulment; the “modernization” and “rationalization” of Social Communications.

Manchester, unite!
My family is from Manchester.
My mother and Uncle Mike grew up there in the immediate post-war period, playing hide and seek in the bomb sites (though they were strictly forbidden to, of course). He is very good at fixing bicycles and he told me it was because as a kid he used to go into the bomb sites and pick out the wreckage of old bikes, put the parts together to make a whole one and give them to their friends.

I posited the other day that he hired Jameth Martin EthJay because Spadaro has blocked so many people no one can read him anymore.
Oh wow. Antonio Look-at-me-wrong-&-I'll-block-you Spadaro has written a book about how wonderful the internet is for connecting us all. https://t.co/vDb0kEdXX7 — Gary Paul H ن (@enternoon) May 22, 2017
