Just a quick little reminder: “China is the best implementer of Catholic social justice”
What kind of people are in charge of the Church right now?
This kind.
“Right now, those who are best implementing the social doctrine of the Church are the Chinese,” a senior Vatican official has said. Bishop Marcelo Sánchez Sorondo, chancellor of the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences, praised the Communist state as “extraordinary”, saying: “You do not have shantytowns, you do not have drugs, young people do not take drugs”.

My Big Giant Stick Castle
Last year’s efforts to barely keep ahead of the grape vines. On the right is the wholly inadequate morning glory trellis, and moving left, the arch of grape vines that grew into it, and the small trellis of morning glories and beans that was mostly there to provide shade. I think this was June, so pretty much the height of the growing season. I was going to write something today… Really I was.

“Cashless society” = ultimate digital totalitarian surveillance state
A mass surveillance state would be easy to develop if our society moves away from physical currency. And as a result of that some truly terrifying things can happen there after we’ve already begun to see the likes of credit card companies and payment processors terminate their services with certain individuals and businesses because of their political views. Well what about the idea of a person essentially being frozen out of society entirely a true digital unpersoning.

“Cold periods often get labelled as ‘Dark Ages’…”: Did Europe’s “Little Ice Age” trigger the Protestant Revolt?
The Climate Hysterians seem to be content to read the headlines and freak out. And while I agree that there’s nothing quite like the thrill of horror one gets by this method, it seems that even the slightest effort is required to dispel the whole thing. You don’t have to be a “climate scientist”. You look only have to look the teeniest bit more closely and you find immediately what the earth’s geological records show:

The Purge in Saginaw
So, you know that whole “purge” thingy I’ve been talking about?
Let’s do a little shot/chaser theme today…

The Vatican: They’re Doing This On Purpose Today I had a conversation with a lady who is involved in a Thing to set up some kind of praying sort of community-ish thing for ladies and others. She was asking me whether I had ever heard of a bishop anywhere in the world who would be approachable, someone who is on the side of the Angels and understands what’s at stake, to ask for support and/or protection.

I LOVE AMERICA
OK, so, people seem to think I’m antiAmerican. I’m not. In fact, I’m American. My maternal grandfather was from Waco, Texas. So, I’m not just American, I’m the kind of American that all the nancy-boy commies from New York are scared of.
That said, I’m also Canadian. And I think Gavin McInnes should get the Order of Canada.
One of the happiest and most treasured memories of my life was a particular moment when I was bombing down the I5 freeway in my mother’s 1976 Ford Fairmont (bench seats!

Abandoned monastery; abandoned Faith; abandoned civilisation and the coming cataclysm
As more and more people are saying, I don’t honestly see any human, natural means to avoid the consequences of everything we’ve been making and doing for the last 200+ years.

Exploring the ruins
Imagine for a moment that you’re in a sci fi movie and it’s hundreds of years from now and our entire civilisation is completely gone – basically imagine that all the things that are happening now long ago took their course and reached their inevitable conclusion.

The medium-heeled are abandoning Anglo-Land: or why the 1st World Sucks
Did any of y’all ever see this website?
It’s hilarious. It’s called “Crack-shack or Mansion” – and it’s a fun interactive game where you try to guess whether the crappy little shack you’re looking at in Vancouver is a house for sale for more than a million $ CAD, or a crack den raided and seized by police.
Go ahead! Click it! It’s hilarious.
Yes, that’s a house that’s on the market in Vancouver for $1.

Wisdom! Let us be attentive
No, I’m not going Ortho. Not even going East within the Church. But I’ve maybe started getting a little more “ecumenical” in my sources for spirituality. The Norcia monks are BIG into the Desert Fathers and the early Fathers of the Faith. These are the guys whose trustworthiness has been beyond question for 1500 years or more.
There are all manner of problems with Orthodoxy – most of them about politics and nationalism – but for the practice of the spiritual life, what prayer is and how to do it, we share the same sources.

The squid-ink pontificate: weaponised irrationality
I think people are starting to get it: the most important thing to understand about this pope is that what he says, the actual content of his various discourses, is way less important than what he does. His words are ALWAYS intended as misdirection, whether their content is orthodox Catholicism or otherwise. He’s the squid-ink papacy; he shoots out a cloud of irrationality to cover his retreat whenever he feels like he’s in trouble.
