What a tease…
Update:
The Document of Dooooommm lives!
~
Well, so much for that. Same time again next week for the end of the word…
At least we have some useful new data. And yet another demonstration of the Hilary Thesis on the uselessness of “conservatism”.
Ladaria’s a “conservative” all right. And like all conservatives, he’s extremely good at tilting at windmills.
Don’t worry though. I’m sure Jorge still hates us, and we HAVE been more or less promised an actual encyclical detailing precisely how much.

“Come higher up and further in!”
Sacred art; the window onto Heaven…
Lewis described the difference between that world and ours as being like looking at a beautiful scene though a screen door, and then someone opens the screen and all the details are sharper, the colours more vibrant. It is like the difference you see in a garden on a dull overcast day when the sun breaks through, and for a moment all is gleaming, the colours flash and every drop of rain becomes wonderful.

Report from Ireland: “You know things are bad when even priests are saying they could not recommend that a young man with a vocation become a Diocesan priest”
Like many Catholics around the world, before I was paying close attention, I assumed that Ireland remained one of the great bastions of Catholicism. Since then, of course, we have learned all that we have learned about the systematic dismantling of these bastions that used the organised structures and well established disciplines of the Church to all-but destroy the same. These evil and vicious men, who did not believe in salvation for themselves, determined that no one else would either – most especially in those countries renowned for their faithfulness; Ireland, Poland, Malta…

You are now entering the Bergoglian Age: please remove sunglasses
A short time ago, an old conservative friend of mine from Canada wailed to me in a Facebook message, “You don’t really think we’re looking at 50 _more years of this?” _I had to tell him that I saw no reason not to think so, and that it was time to start facing up to certain realities. I told him to consider that we have been put into this situation after nearly 40 years of “conservative” popes, as the term is now understood.

Cutting out the heart for “Liberty”
The Cuore Verde, Umbria, the green heart of Italy.
The big horseshoe of the Tiber Valley
The internet really is the ultimate free-association engine – with each thought finding illustration as your mind drifts along from topic to topic. I started out looking into the medieval concept of the “hortus conclusus” – the garden enclosed that creates a bridge between the mystical tradition and monastic gardening practices.
I discovered that there is a medieval monastic garden in Perugia, maintained on the property of the old Benedictine Monastery of St.

And the prize for Most Mendacious & Evil Headline goes to…
Crux news:
Cardinal Zen attacks Vatican efforts to rehabilitate government-appointed Chinese bishops Yes, you read that one right.
I’m going to be covering this letter from the holy and righteous Cardinal Zen, hero of the Faith, for the Remnant today, so more on it later as we go through the material. But this headline is possibly the most revolting piece of propaganda I’ve seen come out of that dubious exercise so far.

Fr. Blake nails it: Pope Juan Peron
On a somewhat more serious note…
One of the biggest problems we in the anglo nations have understanding Bergoglio is that we have no equivalent to Peronism. Politics is about policy to us. In Argentina, politics is about the leader.
Fr. Ray Blake has a post up today that does a good job of giving people the key to this pontificate. Go read it.
For those too lazy to click, here’s a bit of it:

Modern Man vs. Jesus
So, the pope is on again today about “contemporary man” and his friend Vincenzo Paglia – remember, the guy who commissioned a painting for Terni cathedral from a homosexual that included a depiction of himself naked – except for the zucchetto – in some kind of weird apocalyptic orgy… I don’t even know. Anyway, Buddy Vincenzo is now in charge of BOTh the Pontifical Academy for Life AND what used to be the John Paul Institute for Marriage and Family (that was one of the ONLy voices in the Catholic world unambiguously opposed to Bergoglio’s plans at the Synods) and one of the latest little projects is to revisit Gaudium et Spes.

How to fool around and waste time effectively on the innernet
I've got that on a graph. It's a little complex and hard to read since it shoves all the indicators onto the same graphic, but you'll get the gist… https://t.co/uQcRojmiCC — Hilary White (@hilarityjane) January 25, 2018 Related: vector graphic showing long term indicators for “JPII-era conservative Catholicism” in the Great Bergoglian Age of Enlightenment and Mercy…
More helpfully clarifying graphics to come, as I periodically procrastinate throughout the day.
