The Smoke of German Bishops has entered the sanctuary
Concern is growing in Rome, where Bishops and Cardinals are gathering for a decisive Synod on the Family beginning on 4 October, that the CEO of the German Church has presided over an emissions fraud scandal set to dominate the agenda in the debates ahead.
It has been revealed that Cardinal Reinhardt Marx, under whose stewardship the German Church has been accused of profiteering from the German pornography industry, as well as simony over the controversial ‘Church tax’, permitted himself and the majority of the German Bishops Conference to be fitted with a device that registered emissions of toxic sulphur (S) when tested behind closed doors.

Fr. Lombardi, doing his bit to help
Have you ever wondered if maybe the difficulty we’re experiencing is really just a matter of definitions. When the pope announced that there was going to be a “Synod on the Family” how many of us would have thought that we ought to have asked him what, exactly, he meant by that term?
Well it does seem as though the Vatican’s official spokesman, Fr. Federico Lombardi, in his own inimitable style, has today greatly helped to clear up any confusion.

New Rules
I should have known better than to spend half the night doing an analysis the day before the press conference:
The Synod on the Family: Can the “Good Bishops” Save Us? (Don’t Hold Your Breath)

Meanwhile, the Synod organisers continue to tighten up the procedures to ensure that the affair does not suffer from another unfortunate attack of overexposure to the public.**
There will be no reports published of the discussions of these groups, and no mid-term or final documents.

The Synod Rules And Us: screaming ‘NO’ to power
So after weeks of rumors, the synod masters released the final synod rules and protocols. For sure, the rule changes from the last Synod of Doom™ are designed to make it easier for the manipulators of the synod (meaning those actually in charge) to do their nefarious work. But I think it is fair to say that the rules are not as restrictive as recently reported and rumored.
So why is that?

Hardness of hearts: speaking truth to power
Some Pharisees came and asked Jesus:
Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife? Jesus answered them: What God has joined together, let no one separate.
So does the Liturgy of the Hours summarize the Gospel which will be read this Sunday as the synod begins…
THE CATHOLIC CHURCH has received a mission from Almighty God, who became flesh, was crucified, and rose from the dead.

About us: what is the apocalypse, and how can I help?
In 1998, I returned to the practice of the Catholic faith. In the same year, I started reading about what was going on in the world.
And it’s all been downhill from there.
The next year, I started working in the political end of the pro-life movement, with the sweet and innocent idea that if you just told people the truth, they would change their minds about the things they believed, and would change their behaviour.

Coming out of retirement – Liveblogging the Apocalypse
Introducing my little Evil Project for the duration of the Synod.
Later today (I hope) The Remnant will be producing a longish article I wrote explaining in detail (and at length… sorry in advance) why I abruptly gave up news reporting in May this year, literally walking away. In truth, I had gone down to Rome for the March for Life, and the little quiet voice that had been whispering to me for about five years to move on, grew to a roar.
